Weardale Fleece Jacket & Weardale Field Jacket Here at Jack Pyke, we pride ourselves in our comprehensive outdoor clothing ranges, especially by way of certain lines of garments complimenting each other. One of the many we offer is the Weardale Range which is now very established and highly popular with hunters, hikers, fishermen, walkers, and anybody who enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. Arguably, it first gained attention due to the quilted wear on offer but there are now more conventional styled garments including jumpers, jackets, and trousers on offer. Such is its popularity we’ve progressively added other garments to the range - two highly desirable but very different lightweight Jackets both designed and built to fulfil specific purposes. One of our more recent additions is the Weardale Fleece Jacket. This 230gsm polyester Polar Fleece is suitable as an under layer in cold weather or as an outer layer when the weather is warmer. So what makes it so special? Well Polar Fleece is a soft napped insulating fabric made from a type of polyester called polyethylene terephthalate or other synthetic fibres. The word ‘napped’ refers to a process in which both sides of a piece of woven or knit fabric are teased and raised and/or sheared off to make them even. It’s also constructed with large loops or long fibres on the inside or outside. This helps capture more air, which is the best insulator, so in turn provides better protection from the cold. It features a heavy-duty zip opening, high collar with chin guard. Stowage is careered for with a zipped breast pocket, and two zipped side pockets. It also boasts elasticated cuffs and all zips have pull assists. It has contrast shoulder panels with the Jack Pyke logo embroidered on the reverse of the collar and breast pocket. This versatile mid-weight soft fleece provides optimal warmth, is highly resistant to moisture, dries quickly and will withstand a lot of use. Not only that but it’s yet another stylish practical fleece that can be worn casually when out and about or in the field. Available in Green in Sizes S–3XL The latest garment to join the range is The Jack Pyke Weardale Field Jacket. As we’ve discovered from the previous garment, the Field Jacket takes build structure seriously and to another level. Largely manufactured from 100% Polyester this lightweight jacket has quite a technical and well-thought out overall build design. Firstly the outer has a smooth feel plus has the now acknowledged WINDBLOCKER denotation – a name it certainly lives up to. Secondly, it has a BREATHA-TEX® membrane which is waterproof, windproof, breathable, and silent. Also, the lining is soft and comfortable to the touch which is yet another bonus. and in relation to specification ratings, it can boast being Waterproof: 8,000mm and Breathable: 5,000g/m2. Waterproof ratings are measured in millimetres (mm) and usually fall anywhere from 800mm to 10,000mm. These figures indicate the amount of water pressure a fabric can withstand. Material with a 8,000mm rating will endure a 8,000mm or 8metre column of water bearing down on it before it starts to leak In fact this rating is considered ideal for those who spend long days out in all weather conditions. Breathability is often measured in a ‘g/m2’. This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through a square metre of fabric over the course of 24 hours. In this case it’s suitable for those undertaking medium to a moderately high level of outdoor activity. What must be remembered is breathable garments won’t stop you sweating because this is just a natural bodily response to activity. However, breathable garments of this rating level do allow the drying process to happen much more quickly. The Jacket has elasticated cuffs, and the weatherproof main zip makes it easy to control the airflow and temperature which combined with the spec’s speaks for itself while stowage is catered for by a zippered upper chest pocket and 2x lower side pockets. It also features contrast side-panels, high collar with contrast trim, chin guard and hanging loop. All zips have pull assists. The Jack Pyke Weardale Field Jacket is highly versatile and well suited to the transitional months of Autumn and Winter/Spring and Summer. It’s superior build attributes allow its use in a layer system while as an outer layer, the garment will protect against the weather if out hunting, walking, or hiking. LLCS 3D Leaf Concealment System Long used by the military, police, hunters, nature photographers and even anglers the ghillie suit is the perfect type of outdoor apparel to blend into a countryside environment. At Jack Pyke, we initially and previously produced a similar camo concept which we once offered in two of our own design camo patterns. However, due to the success of our latest camo, English Oak Evolution, we decided the system would benefit from a facelift and redesign. This is now the LLCS 3D Light Leaf Concealment System and obviously due to it using our Evo design - which is a more generalised non-terrain specific camo - it immediately scores plus points as it suits the woods and fields during all-seasons. In fact when worn with all the other garments in the range it’s like wearing your own personal portable hide. The build of all garments uses a lightweight 100% polyester mesh upon which full and half profile precision die cut leaves stitch attach onto. The leaves integrated in the build of the garments hang free which in most areas allows them to standaway away from the clothing they are attached to. This is the reason the system works so well at camouflaging the wearer as not only is English Oak Evo a highly effective camo pattern, but this leafy build is what disrupts and conceals the hard outline of the unmistakeable human form. LLCS 3D is a modular system that builds up to offer complete concealment. The main items of this system are a two-piece Ghillie Suit, comprising of a jacket and trousers which are purchased as a single item. The jacket has a draw cord toggle adjust hood with elasticated cuffs and elasticated hemline with toggle cord adjust. It fastens up the front using weatherproof heavy duty press stud fasteners. The trousers are of a over trouser design and have a toggle cord adjust elasticated waist plus elasticated ankle cuffs. The suit is extremely light, weighing 480g and packs down to easily store in its own mesh bag with drawstring top for ease of transportation. Both items are generous cut as befits this type of very lightweight over-wear. The Jack Pyke LLCS 3D Baseball Cap has a mesh top with 3D English Oak Evolution camo leaves has a useful sensibly sized peak and adjustment is via a hook and loop adjuster strap at the rear. The LLCS 3D Baseball Cap with Veil again uses a mesh top dressed with 3D English Oak Evolution camo leaves. It can be altered to fit the wearer with a hook and loop adjuster on the back. The mesh veil with eye holes is attached to the base of the cap and fully extends concealment of the lower face and neck. The Jack Pyke LLCS 3D Balaclava is an excellent addition is easily adjusted with tiebacks on the side of the balaclava. When not in use, the Clearview camo veil can be folded up and concealed under the top of the headgear. The LLCS 3D system is the most cost-effective way of fully concealing yourself without using a hide for certain ambushing situations when you might want to change positions as the session progresses. Also where there’s little cover, at any time of year you have a better chance at blending into areas of gloom or shade. All garments are light, silent in use, very comfortable to wear and easily stored in a rucksack for the times they’re required.

Jack Pyke Shirts Traditional formal and informal long sleeve shirts with cuffs and collars have long been associated with the people who cherish and enjoy the countryside. These are mainly plaid pattern Flannel Shirts but there’s also the lighter check pattern cotton/polyester shirt to consider. Here at Jack Pyke we offer a selection of shirts in both styles as we realise their importance in the outdoor community. Flannel shirts earned their credibility centuries ago. The fabric has been around since at least the 17th century when it was introduced as an alternative to thicker, often scratchier wool. Flannel was smoother, simpler to make, and provided excellent coverage against the cold. Hardly surprising that it’s hugely grown in popularity over the decades. There are various types of ‘Flannel,’ but Cotton Flannel is usually much lighter than other types such as wool or synthetic fibre flannel. However, the Flannel in our shirt is a soft, medium-weight cotton fabric that has a napped, fuzzy, finish on both sides. The Jack Pyke Cotton Flannel shirt is based on the traditional brown plaid pattern often associated with this type of garment. As it’s a light flannel it only offers mild insulating properties yet is strong enough to not be pierced easily by brambles and the like. Also to stay with the traditional style the manufacture follows the fishtail design where the back extends lower than the front. It has a button down collar and two button down breast pockets. Also, a useful feature on what is a very popular theme is the shirt has button adjustable cuffs. The cuffs are quite broad, so you’ll have no problem when you choose to roll the sleeves up as on some inferior shirts they tend to easily unravel down – but not on ours. Our take on this timeless classic design is purposely made to be both practical and versatile.
